Overview

Ghana submitted its first NDC in 2015 and updated NDC in 2020. Under the updated NDC, Ghana aims to implement nine unconditional actions that would result in 8.5 MtCO2e emissions reductions by 2025 and a further 24.6 MtCO2e by 2030 compared to the 2020-2030 cumulative emissions in a baseline scenario. To achieve the targets in the updated NDC, Ghana has developed 19 policy actions in 10 priority areas for both mitigation and adaptation covering social inclusion, early warnings and disaster risk management, resilience building, food and landscape restoration, smart communities, sustainable mobility, sustainable energy transition, and responsible production. The estimated cost of NDC implementation is between USD 9.3 billion and USD 15.5 billion.
