Overview

Chile submitted its updated NDC in April 2020 and its Long-Term Strategy in 2021. The updated NDC commits to reaching an emissions peak in 2025 and limiting emissions to 95 MtCO2eq by 2030. The updated NDC covers energy, industrial processes, agriculture, waste and adaptation, among other sectors. Chile seeks to reach carbon neutrality by 2050.

Partnership Engagement
  • Membership: member since 2016
  • Country Engagement: Since joining the Partnership, Chile has requested support related to improving the quality and ambition of the NDC and LT-LEDS development. In addition, partners have supported various activities, including the preparation of an investment plan to implement NDC and LTS guidelines on Nature-Based Solutions, as well as the development of sectoral mitigation and adaptation plans, regional climate action plans, and community-level GHG inventories.  For further information on the requests submitted by Chile, including outstanding areas of support, please follow the links in the following section.
