Overview

Argentina submitted its first NDC in 2016 and its updated NDC in 2021. The updated NDC commits to an economy-wide unconditional cap net emission of 349 MtCO2e in 2030 focusing on mitigation actions for energy, agriculture, forests, transport, industry, and waste. Argentina submitted its Long-Term Strategy (LTS) in 2022 and has a target to achieve net zero by 2050.

Partnership Engagement
  • Membership: member since 2018
  • Country Engagement: Since joining the Partnership, Argentina has requested support related to improving the quality and ambition of the NDC; mainstream NDCs into subnational planning and budgeting; and LT-LEDS development and enhancement. In addition, partners have supported various activities, including the development of a foundation for the country's LTS, and strengthening the capacities of provinces and regions to design climate change adaptation and mitigation plans at the local level.
