In light of stark global climate challenges, Collaborative Climate Action is gaining traction in policymaking and in pursuit of reaching the goals formulated in the Paris Agreement. Only through cooperation between different levels of government, also known as multi-level governance, can a just transition and accelerated climate action be achieved. 2020 needs to be a year of action, and countries will need to formulate more ambitious targets for climate change mitigation in their Nationally Determined Contributions.

To enhance the understanding of the potential of CCA in raising NDC ambition, GIZ would like to invite you to a Webinar on 29 January 2020, 15:00-16:00 CET with hands-on input from practitioners:

  1. Introduction: Collaborative Climate Action – what are we talking about?
Petter Lydén & Judith Voß-Stemping, Advisors in the project “Climate Policy Meets Urban Development”, GIZ
  2. Insights from the project “Vertically integrated climate policies (VICLIM)” with in-depth country experience from Mexico
Jakob Lindemann, Advisor in the project “Vertically integrated climate policies (VICLIM)”, GIZ
Yuriana Gonzalez, Advisor in the project “Mexican-German Climate Change Alliance”, GIZ
  3. Presentation of “Engaging Subnational Governments in Climate Action. Lessons from the NDC Partnership”
Thibaud Voita, Head of Knowledge Products, NDC Partnership

A Q&A session will follow the presentations of our speakers. We are looking forward to your participation in the Event.
