Many countries around the world are seeking to unlock investment to support their economy-wide transitions and adaptation and resilience plans. A growing number are exploring platform-type approaches as part of these efforts and are increasingly seeking practical guidance on how to ensure their effectiveness. An important first step is to design governance arrangements that can coordinate government stakeholders, align public and private finance and translate national priorities into implementation.

To support peer learning in a constructive and non-attributable environment, the Paris Committee on Capacity-Building (PCCB) of the UNFCCC and NDC Partnership are partnering with GFANZ and its sister initiative, the Global Capacity Building Coalition (GCBC), to deliver a series of workshops focused on the practical design and implementation of country platforms for government officials. The first of three in-person workshops will explore governance arrangements through an interactive case study based on a fictional country platform, allowing participants to examine common challenges, test different approaches and exchange experiences without focusing on any specific country.

The workshop will bring together senior technical participants from national governments to explore the important and unique role that their ministries play in designing and implementing effective country platforms. The session is expected to be particularly relevant for those involved in the design and development of country platforms.
