The European Union’s Technical Assistance Facility (TAF) for the Sustainable Energy for All (SE4ALL)
The EU has launched a Technical Assistance Facility (TAF), to assist partner countries in fine tuning their energy policies and regulatory frameworks to allow for increased investments in the energy sector. It supports countries which are committed to reaching the Sustainable Energy for All (SE4ALL) objectives, in particular those who selected energy not only as one of the priority areas of their national policy agenda, but also chose energy as a focal sector in their bilateral cooperation with the EU for the period; 2014-2020.
The Facility’s purpose is to deliver high level technical assistance at country and regional level through expert missions mobilised at short notice and to support committed countries in significantly scaling-up investments in the energy sector.
Since its launch, the Facility has been working to fulfil its main objectives, namely to:
- Increase the partner countries’ administrative and technical capacity for sector policy analysis, its development and implementation,
- Accelerate and implement positively, efficiently and effectively sector reform policies on access to sustainable energy, energy efficiency and energy supplies, and
- Facilitate the implementation of the investment projects needed to meet the overall SE4All objective of making modern energy services accessible to all.
