(11:00 - 11:30 EET) Presentation of NDC-RD Action Plan

The Dominican Republic submitted its updated NDC to the UNFCCC in 2020 the Dominican Republic’s updated NDC Action Plan 2022- 2025 (its “Partnership Plan”), supported by the NDC Partnership’s CAEP. The updated NDC Action Plan is built upon the updated NDC, which itself was developed within the framework of existing national policies, including the 2030 National Development Strategy (END 2030), National Strategy on Gender and Climate Action, National Policy on Climate Change, National Adaptation Plan, National MRV System and the executive decree No. 541-20, among others. The Dominican Republic has continually strengthened its capacity and role in the world of climate action.

(11:30 - 12:00 EET) Presentation Climate Vulnerability Index at the Municipal Scale in the Dominican Republic

A study to facilitate territorial climate planning in municipalities.  The 155 municipalities have been evaluated calculating the risk and vulnerability of four variables: Climate vulnerability of household livelihoods, Vulnerability of Human Settlements, Vulnerability of Tourism, Vulnerability of Agriculture. These four sub-indices make up the aggregate vulnerability and risk indices.  Climate risk analysis data is key to risk management and adaptation to climate change in territories.
