The Carbon Capture and Storage Fund aims to accelerate the physical deployment of carbon capture and storage demonstration projects by promoting projects, engaging in capacity development, supporting geological investigations and environmental studies related to potential carbon dioxide storage sites, and undertaking community awareness and support programs. All DMCs will be eligible for support from the fund for activities prioritized under ADB’s Energy Efficiency Initiative.

Organizational and Decision Making Structure: 

The Carbon Capture and Storage Fund (CCSF) was established with Australia as a new single-partner trust fund under the Clean Energy Financing Partnership Facility (CEFPF) in July 2009. It became multi-partner trust fund when United Kingdom joined in December 2012.

CEFPF contributors:(1) Provide strategic direction to CEFPF; (2) Meet with ADB for annual consultation; (3) Review progress and administration and annual work program.
Climate Change Steering Committee: (1) Provide strategic direction;(2) Director General, SDCC approves CEFPF policy and procedures;(3) Approves allocation of funds.
Clean Energy Working Group: (1) Review and endorse proposals for CEFPF support; (2) Recommend policy and procedures of CEFPF to CCSC
CEFPF Manager: (1) Serve as Secretariat and oversee CEFPF day-to-day operations; (2) Oversee review process for applications;(3) Review applications for compliance with Implementation Guidelines for use of funds; (4) Prepare annual work program and progress reports; (5) Serve as focal point for CEFPF partners for technical matters

All ADB developing member countries are eligible to receive support from the fund. Initial priority will be given to the People’s Republic of China, India, Indonesia, and Vietnam.
