The NDC Accounting Rules, the result of a four-year long collaboration between country representatives from Colombia, Costa Rica and Mexico with the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH and the Institute for Applied Ecology (Öko-Institut e.V.), provides guidance for establishing accounting systems for NDCs. It is applicable for absolute or relative mitigation targets related to emissions and removals. There are three main products associated with this tool: (1) NDC Accounting Guide, which includes 25 pages of text and illustrations; (2) NDC Accounting Tool, which is MS Excel-based; and, (3) Accounting Guide for the land-use sector in NDCs, which contains 70 pages of text and illustrations relating to land-use.
