Omar Zemrag is a Regional Specialist for Francophone Africa for the NDC Partnership Support Unit. Prior to joining the NDC Partnership, he was a technical advisor at the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) Morocco serving as the lead for the Support to the Implementation of the Paris Agreement component. Previously, he served as an advisor in international cooperation for the Moroccan Minister of Environment, and was part of the COP 22 team. Before joining the Ministry of Environment, he worked with Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), the UN Development Programme, and the UN Office for Project Services. Omar holds a B.A. in International Studies from Al Akhawayn University in Ifrane, specializing in International Cooperation and Development with special focus on MENA and Africa regions. He is interested in post-development theory, and the impact of climate change on migration, refugees, and regional conflicts.
In his free time, Omar enjoys hiking, and live music in small venues.
