Guatemala Scoping Mission

Monday, 16 April 2018 | 8:00am - 6:00pm

Following initial interactions between the SU and the Government of Guatemala, the Regional Specialist for Latin America and the Caribbean of the SU will conduct a scoping mission in Guatemala during the week of 16 April. The visit will be conducted in close coordination with the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ), coinciding with a mission to the country to participate in the kick-off workshop of an initiative to develop a geo-portal on climate data for insurance development.

The purpose of the mission would be to conduct exploratory meetings with the NDC Partnership focal point at the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources and other key actors in the country, notably the Ministry of Finance, the Secretary of Planning and Programming of the Presidency, and Ministry of Foreign Affairs, among others. The objectives of the meetings would be to

  1. Present the Country Engagement and Knowledge and Learning Strategies,
  2. Identify key areas of potential support to be presented to the Partnership,
  3. Agree on concrete next steps and timeline, and
  4. Take part in bilateral meetings with local representatives of international partner organizations.
