COP31: The NDC 3.0 Opportunity — From Ambition to Implementation Lasting Impact
As countries move forward with their third-generation Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs 3.0), the next five years will be decisive for advancing implementation, strengthening resilience and keeping the 1.5-degree C goal within reach. A recent analysis by the NDC Partnership Support Unit of NDC 3.0 submissions shows that countries have strengthened the ambition, quality and inclusiveness of their climate commitments, supported by stronger institutional arrangements, improved technical analysis, enhanced stakeholder engagement and clearer implementation pathways.
Realizing this opportunity will require sustained focus on delivery. Countries must translate climate priorities into tangible outcomes that strengthen resilience, unlock investment and support sustainable development, while navigating complex institutional arrangements, competing priorities and capacity constraints.
This event will bring together country representatives, partners and civil society to explore how countries can turn strengthened NDC 3.0 commitments into measurable, lasting impact. It will showcase country-led progress, share lessons from implementation, and identify opportunities for deeper collaboration in support of ambitious, implementable and investable NDCs.
